Living with Disability
Counseling for Disabilities
Counseling offers meaningful relief from anxiety and depression for people living with disabilities. It provides a safe, judgment-free space where you can express sadness, anger, or frustration—freely and fully. No one will tell you how you should feel. We understand the unique emotional challenges that come with disability and work alongside you to explore your feelings, process grief, and begin healing.
What Makes Us Different
We bring together personal lived experience and expertise in three key counseling disciplines—mental health, rehabilitation, and addiction. Our approach is grounded in evidence-based practices tailored to each client’s unique needs and goals. We primarily draw from the following therapeutic models:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT helps you recognize and reframe unhelpful thought patterns that influence emotions and behaviors. It's goal-oriented and focuses on practical strategies for daily challenges.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
DBT emphasizes emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and building healthier relationships. It’s especially effective for navigating intense emotions and interpersonal struggles.
Person-Centered / Talk Therapy
This approach creates a supportive space where you feel genuinely heard and respected. It centers on your lived experience, helping you grow through self-awareness and acceptance.
We also integrate trauma-informed care and mindfulness into everything we do—because healing happens when you feel safe, seen, and supported.

Turning Pain into Strength
Therapy gives you a safe space to face life’s challenges and emotions. When you allow yourself to feel pain instead of holding it in, that pain can turn into real strength. We’re here to support you through emotional and mental struggles as you adjust to your "new normal" way of living. From personal experience, we know that beyond the pain lies a hopeful, meaningful life. If you're curious about how we can help, we offer a free 15-minute consultation to help you learn more.
Essential Note to Read
The term “people with disabilities” refers to a diverse range of experiences, identities, and needs. Our work is focused on supporting individuals with acquired or physical disabilities using evidence-based practices, and our services are guided by training, ongoing education, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendations.
Because of this, there are certain situations or conditions that may fall outside the scope of our practice or beyond the accommodations we can safely and ethically provide.
As part of our intake process, we perform an initial assessment to ensure that therapy here is appropriate, beneficial, and safe for each individual. This is a standard part of ethical care, in alignment with the ACA Code of Ethics, which prioritizes client safety, autonomy, and well-being.
If someone needs a different kind of support, we collaborate with them, their loved ones, and trusted providers to help connect them with the right care.
